SQUIRREL!!!

I can't pass this up----Have any of you guys seen the cartoon of the squirrel wearing a helmet, holding a stick, and screaming "Protect Your Nuts!!??"

One of the wooden Victor rat traps, like the typical mouse trap only much bigger, works fine on red squirrels. Bait with peanut butter. May seem harsh, but you do NOT want him around for long once he has decided to take over your camper!

Our co-hosts had a squirrel get up under their van this summer and it chewed wires on the transmission causing the transmission to have problems. You do not want a squirrel around. How is it getting in to hide the nuts in your upholstery? Sounds like you have some areas that need to be closed up with expanding foam or something.

I have been using Fresh Cab in the engine compartment of the car that is home. Before that, we would come home to find wires chewed or the gas line chewed. So far (knock on wood) a few Fresh Cab pouches have worked. I also put them in the motorhome in the winter to keep the varmints out. Beware - they are smelly but I don't find them to be a problem as long as I am not living in the motorhome when they are put around. (under the refrig, under drawers, in compartments...) I get it from Amazon.

Chewed the wires in my trucks 3 times. CRITTER RIDDER from Home Depot finally stopped them.

All these methods will work.
I am willing to bet that the large rat trap or live trap will catch him within a day. And if you get him in the live trap, then you don't have to have very good aim with that pellet gun. To quote Scarlett O'Hara "I can shoot pretty good...if I don't have to shoot too far."

A few years back a family of red squirrels got into our 5ver. It was bad news. They chewed through the wiring up in the roof. Thankfully my homeowners insurance covered $1,000 of the $1,100 bill for fixing the wiring.

I got a nice pellet gun with a scope (They run a bit over $100). They loved to climb up into my bird feeder to cram their jaws full of seed. While sitting in the bird feeder I would shoot them. Over about 5-6 years I nailed over 30 of these little buggers. That's the only way to keep them out of my home and RV.

Look for small openings in your RV. They will get into smaller holes than you'd think. I used the spray insulation foam to plug the hole. Right after spraying the foam I would stuff small cut up pieces of steel wool into the foam. They cannot chew through the steel wool.

2-3 boxes of mothballs. Spread them around and up into the undercarriage. Irritates their eyes. I used it to eliminate a family of skunks within two days from underneath my wooden garage floor.

Really works. If they get wet though you'll have to replace them.
