Tire dealers won't put tires on not designed for the vehicle for liability reasons. If they put an LT tire on a trailer that originally had ST tires they could be named in a lawsuit if the trailer later has a tire issue. The tire dealer would probably prevail in court, but not until after spending a lot on lawyers.
My parents own a Hyundai Sonata and the tires are rated for something like 120 or 130 MPH. My parents would never come even close to those speeds. The tire dealer refused to put on lower speed rated tires for liability reasons so they had to pay $800 for a set of tires.
I haven't had any problem getting LT tires mounted on my fiver. This is my second set. Don't believe that Tires Plus B.S. Many of them come with LT tires new. Goodyear GS614 is an LT tire that a lot of trailers use. I have Michelins on mine. I will never use ST tires. Try it you'll like it.
