I run LT tires because I believe them to be superior. Our Mountaineer has 6K axles that carry 8300lbs between them. This is well within the load ratings of the 235/85/16R LT tire. While the LT tire is not rated to carry as much weight as the ST, it is required to pass a much harder test. So within it’s weight rating to I think it’s a better tire. The other issue I have with ST tires is their speed rating. The less than speed limit rating may not bother every one, but it does me. Most times I drive within the ST rating, but not always. So again for me the LT is a better tire. Tread wear on the BFG LT's was half of the tread wear of the Marathons after 2 years. Now I know that I’m not going to wear out any tire on my RV, but more tread is better at resisting punctures and tracking on wet roads. Both are good things to have in a tire. So for us on our trailer, the LT tire is the choice for our money
