So essentially you are saying these guys don’t have the intelligence to market a legal product for a legal use to the American public… not that’s funny if there is anything that has been said that is funny…

The Tire builders, wrote the marketing for the ST tire claiming its virtues…
The tire builders professional associations back and support the claims made about the ST tire and they too don’t endorse using LT tires to replace a OE ST tire…

LOL. More word games Jack. I have no idea where your comming up with this so I won't ask for a credible source. Now let me play your word game. Every tire maker I've contacted agrees their LT tires can be used on a trailer if it meets the trailers axle load requirements.

Could the ST tire thing have been a conspiracy as some think??? Could their Marketing of the ST tire expose them to some action if they knew it wasn’t true and just a way to fraudulently get your money???

??? Never heard that one before. The ST tire is what it is and will have to stand on its own reputation with all trailer owners.

I don’t know, but I know one thing is for sure, there is a reason they don’t market the tire for what everyone says is legal use…

I see no reason a LT or P tire manufacturer would advertise their tires for trailer use. They certainly don't have to. As we all know ST/LT and P tires have came OEM on trailers of all types. Hell I can have the trailer manufacturer mount my used or recapped tires of any type on a new trailer when it comes from the trailer manufacturer.

I do not question Keystones ability to make sound decisions about tire/rim fitments. Keystone does what is best for Keystone. Source parts that meet a minimum specification at the lowest price possible. That is what is in their best interest. And it's not just the tires, it's not just Keystone. It's the way business is run now. We don't make the best product we can at a reasonable cost. We design and make products that should work at the lowest cost possible. This is not in the end users (my) long term interest.

And I do understand why some dealers will not very from what is on the certification label, it has little to do with engineering.

You and I and others know Firestone doesn't advertise the fact that their Transforce HT LT tire can be used on a trailer.
It doesn't make sense/cents for a LT tire manufacturer to advertise their tires are for trailers. Soccer moms/non tire savy general public sure wouldn't want to put a LT tire that is advertised for use on a lowly trailer on their high priced burb/suv/pickup.

And you and I and others all know how to get Firestone tire dealer/manufacturer (or any) to either recommend them for our trailers or not recommend them depending on the answer your seeking from specifically worded questions.
Hell, P tire manufacturers don't advertise that fact either but the trailer and truck manufacturers still use them.

Some of the largest companies in the world with huge legal departments and thousands of outside legal contracts, and huge marketing budgets don’t know how to say the tire can be used...


Your argument doesn’t hold water, is laughable, and is really well below your personal knowledge about tires… it’s just you can’t come up with a better argument on why they hide from the question on all official documents…

I would like to know where this recommendation label is posted on my trailer as to what type of tire I must use,LT or ST, if it so critical. I can not find one.

Your only requirement for tire replacement from a legal perspective comes from fed regs which says in part;
571.110 under 10k quoted. Over 10k 571.120 has same requirements.
S4.2.2 Tire load limits for multipurpose passenger vehicles, trucks, buses, and trailers.

S4.2.2.1 Except as provided in S4.2.2.2, the sum of the maximum load ratings of the tires fitted to an axle shall not be less than the GAWR of the axle system as specified on the vehicle's certification label required by 49 CFR part 567."

The vehicles certification placard simply has the size axles that came OEM on the trailer. Just like your trucks drivers side door certification placard has the GAWRs listed.

Maxxis tires are made (manufactured) in:

Xiamen China
Kunshan China
Payong Province Thailand

There has been at least three failure threads on Maxxis tires. When you look at the small number installed on travel trailers, I don't think Maxxis has demonstrated anything.

Even our most experienced experts balk at disseminating the regulations leading up-to and including vehicle certification.

Toyo RV tire publications say it best. But, to reference that is to add kindling to the already burning fire. Those that really want to know will go and find it.

In the automotive tire world things are less complicated because the T&RA publish lists of suitable replacement tires for all vehicles. Even plus sizing has clear industry standards to follow for a smooth transition from size to new size. Complications arise when the decision making process is put into the hands of the vehicle owners.

The trailer manufacturer cannot build a trailer, put tires/rims on it that have clearances for that fitment and then tell the owner they can use something else. To do that they must make a pre-decision about multiple fitments and publish those fitments in the vehicle's owner's manual.

The manufacturer cannot fit GAWR 5200# axles with 3000# load capacity tires and then turn around and tell you it's ok to use replacements with 2700# load capacities. In fact, no retailer will do it either, especially if they have to sign-off on the fitment.

Here is a common fitment many use when axle spacing has a small fitment window. Guff is what you get when you point it out. The LT245/75R16E tires have a minimum rim width fitment of 6.5". And what is the width of the rim you're fitting those tires to? And the installer says, "It'll work just fine". Hmmm?
