Strongback Chairs

Time to replace our camping chairs. Found the Strongback Elite, Core and Zen chairs on their website which I think is the only way to order them; can't find any retailers who carry them. Anyway, anyone have recent experience with these chairs. They are very expensive and if you don't like them you do have to pay a return them. I am 5' and my camping partner is 5'7". Any info would be greatly appreciated. Happy camping.
  • We use the folding directors chairs so not really sure what a strongback chair is...guess I'll google it...lol
  • Meh. For $120, I can buy a new chair every year from a local store sale, forever (figuring the cost of money at a usury 8%).
  • We've owned two of the strongback chairs for 2 years. They are very well made and strong and comfortable. The back support is excellent. The carry-bag is also well made with convenient straps and handles. We ordered the chairs on-line from the web-site. They were expensive but we believe worth what they cost, especially compared to other camping chairs quality/comfort.
  • No experience with that chair. Never heard of it. Just spent a decent amount of time watching and reading reviews. You'd be hard pressed to find a bad one.

I have back issues, and this looks very similar to my computer chair, which I love. My normal camp chairs suck. I usually stand or sit at a picnic table. I'll be looking to buy one of these chairs myself.

So, sorry I can't give personal experience, but you probably helped me find a solution to my issues! Thanks
  • I actually picked up a couple about 5 years ago, I think the closet current model is the Core. They are a very sturdy and well made, well padded folding chair with lumbar support. The weight rating is 3x the rating of the cheap Walmart specials, so if you are plus sized no worries. My wife and I are around your height and we have no issues with them. I personally think they are the best of that style of folding chair that I have tried, and have lasted us 5 years and are in almost new condition. The bags they came in even had half decent backpack straps to carry them to the beach. I was lucky and got them at end of season clearance at Walmart (in Canada) for around $40.
