Wow, I am surprised that the majority seem to be in the "no" category. I've always found campers to be some of the most friendly and inviting people.
If it seems like an honest emergency and the person doesn't seem like a vagrant who just wondered over from the underpass, I will absolutely allow someone to use our facilities.
We don't have any narcotics on board, so that isn't a concern. Other than that, what could they steal by going to the bathroom? On our rig, the slides would prevent them from going into the living room or kitchen, and they wouldn't know to look for our gun box above the bed, which has a lock on it. Anyway, if someone has to take a leak and they are in there more than 30 seconds, I'm going to go in and check on them.
Also, if they stole something, where would they go? Traffic isn't moving, and I guess they could flee on foot, but that would leave their "getaway driver" sitting right there on the highway.
As the saying goes, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. If there is a long traffic stoppage and someone asks to use the restroom, I would bet that 99% percent of the time, they really just have to pee and aren't a criminal who just got lucky and decided to use this as an opportunity to rip off some unsuspecting RV'er.
Maybe I'm just naive and maybe it will get me killed one day, but my first inclination would be to help the person, not turn them away. That's just me, however, and I understand that not everyone is like me.
