Having fought the "tangled cord" myself many times that's what I've done with a variety of trailers, cutting the cable to a length so the connection to an extension would be located somewhere protected from the weather - under a slide, or bed extension, or within the trailer wheel well, etc. That said, I've always later installed a Marinco disconnect kit and find that far easier to deal with that having to stuff any length of cable through a cable hatch.
