Stupidity at its finest

I just saw a pick up towing a 40' or so 5th wheel with a car dolly hooked to the back with a full sized car on that.....I hope he does not need to make a quick stop....As it is illegal in Florida I think there are a number of laws that he was breaking......

  • I’m just curious... how many states enforce the length laws? Ohio has a max length of 65 ft yet 53 ft trailers are very common behind conventional tractors with sleepers. There is no way they are within the 65 ft rule.

Illegal and stupid are two VERY different things.

The other issue is that a lot of folks don’t understand that things like over all length and double towing are NOT covered by reciprocity, just because you’re legal in your home State does NOT mean you’re legal everywhere.

Over 65’ over all and or double towing gets you tickets, maybe more if there’s an incident, in the State of Florida.

OP stated it was in Florida where it IS illegal.

And in almost all states there is a maximum length.

Not to mention hauling a full size car would put him over the weight requirements of his TV.

    Sorry, stupid it is. :C
Won't even go into the safety factor or lack thereof.
  • Last year I saw a pickup towing a 5th wheel, towing a small SUV towing an Aluminum boat. It was doing about 50 mph in a 55 mph zone going down a 2 lane highway near where I live, I watched it cross a bridge over a small creek, and as they hit the hump going onto the bridge the chain of vehicles rippled like a crowd in a stadium doing the wave. I certainly hope they were not going far, but the nearest boat ramp is 15 miles from the location I saw them.
