sulfer smell in bath sink

Called my dealer... he seems to think installing the cutoff switch shouldn't have any connection to my problem.

I have added water to the batteries... all cells seemed to be completely dry.

I still have a hard time believing that it just happened coincidentally.

Any ideas?

My battery issue is with the house battery (-s) and not the coach battery. Will be checking water levels next. But still strange it happened all the sudden.

Yesterday I did turn the inverter button on and off a second later. Just hit it by accident. Wondering if that is playing a part in my problem.

I searched out this forum due to strong sulfer smell in the coach.

I had drained my hot water heater last night in preparation for cold weather. I was just sure that the sulfer smell was due to that.

Read the last post about checking the batteries. Low and behold that is where my smell is coming from. Had never had a problem with that before. Very warm in the battery compartment and some moisture seen too.

Coincidentally I had just had my dealer install a cutoff switch to my coach battery... had never had a converter problem like that before.

I will be calling my dealer back but any suggestions in the meantime? I certainly have unplugged the RV power cord from the house.

I'll just add that if the smell truly smelled like sulfur.

I would also check your coach battery.

I was getting whiffs of that smell inside my MH too. Thought it was the smell of the well water.

Well, it was my batteries being boiled by the converter!

The wind under the RV will make is seem like it is coming from inside from the moving air underneath.

Just saying. another thing to check.

X2.....tried bleach and it didn't work for long. vinegar is the answer.

Otherwise use a waste digester with enzymes from Thetford. I use it in the kitchen and bathroom sinks when we get the rotten egg smell. Once in a while after a few months of storage.

You may need to remove the "P" trap and clean it out, you may be surprised at the "gunk" build up. The same goes for the kitchen sink drain. Yucko stuff in there!

So let me see if I get this..... we drain hot water tank every season... leave it open during winter....so what you are saying is to put it back together then add vinegar and water let it heat up run it through... cut it off.... let it cool.... then let off pressure and open and let it out... this sounds like too much work....lol

Also take a look into the sink drain. You might be surprised what a bunch of toothpaste, shaving cream, etc... can smell like down there after awhile.

We drain our water heater every season. Actually rinse it out with water and let it drain out all the white junk in it. We do not open the water tank up when we bleach. I don't think you are suppose to put bleach in the tank. Our plug looks great. I will do the bleach and let it sit for 24 hours again. If that does not work than I will get the chemical suggested and try that down our drains... thank you my friends...(when I say tank I mean the water heater tank)
