What is the wind chill factor? :B
:)
In the summer, when the winds pick up in AZ, it's more like a convection oven.
I have been there a few times to visit a childhood friend that now lives in Tucson. Many years ago I visited him and his wife and there infant daughter. It was about 110 to 115 during the day but at night it dropped down to about 85 to 90. We decided to go to a drive in movie (do they still exist?) at night and I was shocked when the bundled up the child in blankets so she wouldn't be cold. I was wearing shorts and "T" shirt but a lot of people were wearing sweaters and light jackets with temps near the 90s
I too lived in Arizona (Phoenix area) for 5 years, moved away from there in late '96. Just before moving, I remember walking outside to see a distant lightning storm during the month of October. Was a bit windy and the storm had brought up the winds a bit, temp was a solid 70 degrees. I am standing outside in shorts and a t-shirt and I start shivering. I sat there and thought, "this is ridiculous, it's 70 degrees". I stopped shivering.
But you are right. I saw many times where people were bundled up in winter clothing when the temps were 70s-80s. Also was there when the temps reached 122 (123?) and Sky Harbor Airport had to shut down.
There are some beautiful areas around Phoenix, just had to move on as I found it ultimately was just too hot for too long there and I had to get outta that kitchen.
