- lvthesunSaskExplorerWas there any reason why you chose this one over others ? Have you been happy with it?
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi, lvthesunSask,
The PI brand comes with a lifetime guaranty.
If your ride has a 50 amp service it may be a good idea to have such a device (go top of the line though). If it is a 30 amp then they are not so necessary. Since I'm 30 amp and boondock mostly, I'll probably never bother with one.lvthesunSask wrote:

- gotsmartExplorerpianotuna, you may want to consider adding a surge protector to your wish list of things to buy in the future - and store it in the MH even if you don't intend to use it. Why? I've actually been at a couple of parks where they included a supplemental page to their welcome packet that bluntly says that the park's power may fluctuate and suffer brown-outs and outages. The supplemental recommends the use of surge protection and disclaims liability for any damage to the electrical system of the guest's RV.
I think it is a "good-to-have" for when you arrive at a park with power issues, or when you're setting up and your next door neighbor "Hey, if you got a surge protector you ought to use it 'cuz the power has been awful this week".
It falls under the "be prepared for anything" category. - ol_Bombero-JCExplorer

PI - hard-wired or portable.
Way more than just a surge guard.
BTW -
Surge protection excellent "insurance" whether you have 30 or 50 amp..:S
~ - NanciLExplorer IIIf you get one, don't get the $100 dollar one.
That is the mistake I made.
The more expensive ones will reset automatically after the fault has been restored, but with the el cheapo ones like the one I got, once they trip you have to manually reset them.
If you are gone off for the day and it trips, you come back to no air conditioning.
I don't even use it any more

also the el-cheapos don't have the over/under voltage, miswired, timed delay restart after shut down features. get a multi-function surge protector, $250 and up for a 30 amper.
bumpy - wbwoodExplorerI just ordered the Surge guard 30 amp from CW. They are on sale for $239.99. And if you are a GS member, there is a $20 off coupon you can get off your account, plus you get free shipping. Ordered mine Friday morning and I have an email that it will be here Tuesday.

X2. Doesn't matter how many amps your RV is wired for. How much $$$ worth of electronics could you lose?
