The more expensive ones will reset automatically after the fault has been restored, but with the el cheapo ones like the one I got, once they trip you have to manually reset them.
If you are gone off for the day and it trips, you come back to no air conditioning.
I don't even use it any more

also the el-cheapos don't have the over/under voltage, miswired, timed delay restart after shut down features. get a multi-function surge protector, $250 and up for a 30 amper.
