surge protectors

Our coach has a 50 amp service. However we very seldom stay in a campground that has 50 amp service available. So we adapt to a 30 amp service! If I were to buy a surge protector would a 50 amp protector work just as well when we are on a 30 amp serviced site? Thanks to you fellow fulltimers for your past help! Have a great day!
