Suzuki Grand Vitara

Does anybody Flat tow one of these with a automatic trans? Do you like it? Any info would help.
  • Have had two now, a 2003 and a 2007. Great toads imho. Easy to tow...transfer case in "N", trans in "P", key in "ACCES". That's it! Both were absolutely trouble-free albeit with low miles in both cases.
  • Yes, I have towed Sidekick, Vitara, Grand Vitara and XL-7.
Varies by year somewhat. My Sidekick and Vitara had manual transfer switch. Grand Vitara and XL-7 have electronic switch to place transfer switch in neutral.
I liked my Sidekick and Vitara which had the four cylinder. The Grand Vitara and XL-7 have the V-6. I like the V-6 a little better then the four cylinder.
  • I do! It must be the model with hi and lo 4WD. The newer ones will have a dial on the dash. Older ones will have a transfer case stick in between the seats, separate from the auto transmission. I used to have an older Chevy Tracker, which was the same as the older Suzuki GV. Now I have an almost new GV. Loved the Tracker, love the GV! Towing setup is easy, just move the transfer case to neutral (leaving the auto transmission in "P") and turn the key to accessory to unlock the steering wheel. Instructions are in the car's manual.
