This illustrates exactly why many of us have said many times "DO NOT rely on a "sway control" to solve a sway problem, find out WHY it swayed, and fix it!"
Even though the OP had done (almost) everything right, apparently shifting water between tanks (taking a shower) was enough to reduce the tongue weight so a sway event took place.
Luckily, something stopped the sway. I tend to agree with the "groan and jerk, stick and slip sway control". After it heated up a little, it finally did its job and controlled the sway. IMO, if it was truly a "sway controller", the sway would never have happened, especially to the extent described.
Whatever. Something worked, and a lesson was learned.
