Tekonsha Voyager Question

Just picked up our Hybrid from hibernation. On drive home my Tekonsha Voyager would not apply brakes no matter where I turned the wheel. If I manually slide the adjuster, I had brakes. Any thoughts?

Yep, I sure did miss that fact earlier.

I agree, the brake trigger may be the issue or the brake controller may be kaput. I'd get under the dash and verify connections

  • Check the 7 way plug on the vehicle for corrosion. My money is on this little device.

The Voyager is my personal favorite brake controller. No fancy boost buttons needed.
  • I went through two Voyagers over the years. They just got weaker and weaker with age. When the last one failed, I took it apart and found the component they use inside to regulate current flow is vastly undersized (1.5A rating) and that's why they go bad.
  • Make sure you are getting 12 volts from the brake switch when pressing down on brake pedal, if you are and still does not work then it is time for a new controller.
  • Is the green light on when trailer pluged in
Did you turn the level knob by mistake(left side)
when you apply the brakes does the light turn red
  • I have been using a Voyager since the 90s and use one now. Did you tap the wires yourself or did your tv come with the necessary connections? Did you dial both to max and see what happens?
