Tell me about your vacuum!!!

What vacuum model do you have in your RV? I want to hear them all - central vacs, "regular" vacs, stick vacs, handheld vacs!

Do you love it/hate it?
Does it pick up dog hair?
Does it work well on carpet?
Does it work well on hard floors?
  • Our rig has a central vac (Dirt Devil) and it works great picking up everything....we just don't like dragging the long hose around but that is needed to reach all corners.

For touch up we have a small Bissell that does the job and stores easly in our bedroom closet.
  • I have a central vac! I'm excited to try it out this weekend for the first time!
  • Bought a Wally World hand vac for $20. Then bought a canister vac for about a C-note. The canister vac gets used a lot more because it is definitely more powerful and can reach those Texas sticker-burrs that are lurking on the floor before I step on them. Plus, for vacuuming out the in-floor heater vents, one needs as powerful a vacuum as possible.

    My vacuum "sucks".
I love that remark, you can frame it on the wall, you won, your the winner, best of all for ever.

We used a battery operated Dirt Devil stick vacuum (LOWES) - works great and stays charged for a long time. We also have a bigger canister type vacuum from LOWES that we keep in the storage bay for better cleaning from time to time...

We thought we doing a good thing when some carpet squares became available from work after they replaced their office floor carpet. I put this all down in my OF-ROAD POPUP floor and under the two tent bed ends. It did great making the floor warmer but I never thought about carpet picking up all the woods trash you bring in on your boots... All kinds of leaves and other woods items in the trailer all the time now... the Vinyl floors were much easier to sweep out..

  • We have central vac in our 5th wheel and I love it. It sucks dirt up really well and it came with a very long hose so I can get everywhere in the camper.
  • Dyson DC44 Cordless - I love it. It fits under the sofa while plugged in. It does a nice job w/ dog hair, and I can use it without the extension to do the furniture. I had a couple of cheap vacuums but they did not work as well. We don't have room for a full size vacuum, and this works very well.
  • We bought a small vac at WallyWorld with a folding handle that works very well and stores in our closet nicely.
