I have had two propane detectors fail. When they start to go bad, they give false alarms. Mine went off in the middle of the night for no reason. Of course, that was traumatic and it took a while to even realize that it was just another false alarm. Now I don't fool around. I get a replacement at the first indication of a false alarm.
