10 more days is all til Thanksgiving Day.
Kind of snuk up on me.
Yesterday it seems we were headed for Michigan and it was June.
Is it gonna be Turkey or Tofu this year?

We are camping with friends at a park about 30 minutes from home and we will have a full Thanksgiving dinner "on the grounds", no matter what temp it is. We have 2-10 X 20 tents that we L shape. We had 35 in attendance last year and had plenty of food.

There will be turkey, dressing, gravy, twice baked potatoes, cranberry salad, green bean casserole, pineapple casserole, some sort of sweet potato dish, deviled eggs and sausage balls and a couple of other appetizer foods. We eat the leftovers on Friday (if there are any).

Dinner is at Natural Tunnel State Park in Virginia at 2:00 pm on Thanksgiving Day and we will be in sites #13 and #14. If you are in the neighborhood, you are invited to eat with us. Give us a heads-up that you are coming so we can make sure we have plenty of vittles.

    twice baked potatoes.....yummmm!
  • I get to eat Turkey twice. At my brother and sister in laws for noon and then in the evening some friends invited me down to have Turkey for supper.
  • I keep trying to like tofu. Tried it in a dozen different ways; yuk no taste can't stand it. Thanksgiving is that once a year event when my relatives do their best to pretend they don't hate each other. It kinda works as long as we don't let the alcohol flow.
  • difficult...maybe. impossible? doubt it. never have, never will give it a go. sounds about as appetizing as the veggie burger being hawked at burger king. not for us. turkey all the way on Thanksgiving although we're getting a cooked breast at the deli. it's just the two of us,

I serve a traditional Thanksgiving-turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, homemade cranberry sauce and squash. Sometimes turnip, depending on who's coming. Growing up we had corn and no sweet potatoes. If you want to try tofu done well, have it cooked by a vegetarian.
  • Working up at our local Elks Lodge. Cooking and serving a full Thanksgiving free meal to all veterans, First Responders, Fire fighters, etc. It's a long hard day's work, but well worth it.
