Well I'm a drag racer AND I work with all sizes of trucks.
Dragsters' tires don't get taller and narrower as RPM increases so that the weight is on a smaller contact patch, that's got nothing to do with it. I'll spare the explanation since this is a truck forum unless anyone asks.
Most of your pickups' weight is on the front anyway. Throw it in 4x4 and go.
One cool thing about a dually in the snow is if you want to chain the rear - and you're using a single-wheel chain - is you can drive the inside tire up on a block and you've got the outside tire up off the ground and it's super easy to get the chain on and all wiggled into place.
The other cool thing if it comes to chaining up a dually is you can run dually chains. Can you say "unstoppable tank"?
No chains, highway tires, no weight in back and two-wheel drive, OK then a dually is probably a disadvantage but that rig has no business out in the snow anyway.
