I've spent plenty of time both in deeper snow and on packed snow/ice on roads driving both DRW and SRW. I'd take the latter any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Less contact patch in the rear gives you better traction on slick stuff, and in deep stuff you're not punching two tracks and trying to float up on top. I get that DRW tow and haul better, but beyond that they are a liability in every other situation I can think of offhand.
This is a RV towing forum not a snow, ski, off road, rock climbing, bad weather forum.
I realize there are other uses for a truck but all of us here tow RV's.
Lots of those other factors do not even apply to many.
Lots of the members on this forum never see any snow at all.
In the end snow maybe a consideration but certainly not the deciding factor for dually vs. SRW
