You can see what I tow and with a SRW from my sig at the bottom. A dually is not always necessary. A newer SRW will tow what you already have with ease and be stable. My setup, I can and do cruise all day comfortably as long as other traffic isn't acting stupid. :)
Some things to consider before getting a newer truck.
Check the tires on your truck. Maybe adding an even higher rated tire or different brand/tread can make a real difference.
Slow down. Towing over 70 just sucks fuel anyways. :)
Check and change your shocks.
Get a set of airbags or helper springs.
Check your tire inflation. When I first bought this trailer and was towing it home, we encountered huge wind gusts and things were squirrelly.. So I checked my tires and sure enough, they were far below max pressure for towing. Once I inflated them back to normal, it was a night and day difference.
But then again, a new truck already has all that and fancy bells and whistles too!
