Aren't most of the "truck stops" now called "travel Centers" and don't most rest stops have a "car side" and a "trailer side"?
Not necessarily. I live about 40 miles west of NYC off of Rt. 80. It's a major route in and out of NYC and Newark ports. There are very few places for truckers to legitimately sleep and/or wait out rush hours. There are a couple of "rest areas" on Rt. 80 in my area that are really just pull-off spots with rent-a-johns. They fill up VERY quickly (the rest areas that is, and I suppose the rent-a-johns as well). There are signs that are meant to restrict parking to commercial vehicles over a certain weight limit but I see RVs in them occasionally. That has to p*** off the truckers.
The Wal*Mart about 50-miles from NYC, right off of 80, will often look the other way when big rigs park there overnight. But RVers that abuse the policy will cause a crackdown occasionally. But, to be fair, lot lizards that cater to a certain trucker clientele spoil the fun as well.
