I hate those d@mn refers. Shut my truck down, relax with a little TV, then hear that telltale beep that warns the refer next to me is about to crank over. Defrost mode is even worse.
APUs are just as bad..little lawn mower engine whining all night.
I have to turn the TV up REALLY loud.
They should make those guys park on the other side of the lot..stay away from us quiet, peaceful, flatbedders (who would probably have chased the obnoxious snowflake around the lot with a 3' ratchet bar for having the audacity to wake someone up, just to complain).
Travel plazas are for ALL...but they ain't campgrounds. Noise and movement 24/7/365, with no quiet hours. Even I enjoy a peaceful night in a customers lot when I can.
As for the "she should have left, to avoid conflict" comments. You have no understanding how regulated the trucking industry is. Her ELD (electronic logging device) would violate her if she so much as moved the truck during her mandatory break.

Nobody uses "handles" any more..but shoestring was/is mine.
