Since we bought our 2012 Class C last August it is "that" time again. Just got the bill for insurance and registration, both due next month. I was anticipating the insurance (and at $695 I can live with it), but had forgotten that registration is based upon the value of the motorhome....ouch! We paid $47,000 so our Arizona registration came in at $1,035. :SJust glad we did not buy something more expensive. The good news is the longer we own it the cheaper the tags will get but always wondered just how much a 100, 150 or even a $300,000 coach comes in at. :h I do know it varies quite a bit from state to state. Anyone care to share? :B

When I checked my ins co. for full coverage on a class c would be around 3-4 hundred a year. In my state, the initial registration is based on vehicle weight.....ouch... Then you have to get the rig inspected every 2 years, then you have to pay property tax every year based on blue book value or if you can show them the bill of.sale.....

Or you could get it registered in a cheaper state. My Voltage was also over a grand. Montana is $282.50 and is based on the age of the RV. Something to look into.

What's with Arizona RV insurance costs ... anyway??? Wow, the OP is really getting stung there in Arizona.

We have always paid around $600-$650 a year for insurance on our Class C here in CA - and it is a high end policy from Progressive. i.e. For the unfortunate case of a complete lose, our Progressive RV insurance plan would pay us the original amount we paid for the RV - no prorating at all year after year.

wouldn't that be sweet? alas, the last time I actually looked (been a few years) our license plates were mfg in Arkansas. part of the reason...a very tiny part...of why Illinois is dead broke.

Bought our class c (2013 Thor chateau) last year for $70k. Insurance here on it $450. Registration was about $400. Maybe a little less. Can't really remember. It's based on value. Or what they value it at. Can't complain.

Illinois, where 4 of the last 7 governor's have gone to prison, charges me $102 for the license plates. my last insurance bill for the MH was $413.

here's a suggestion: for those recurring bills, especially the large ones like your registration, set aside 1/12th of the anticipated bill each month in a savings account. when the bill comes due you'll have the cash to pay it. your $1800 would represent about $150 p/m.

Washington recently changed it's fees, so that it is around $65 per vehicle per year. But they also have sales tax. Advantage to Oregon with no sales tax, but a $10 - $15 per foot long one time fee the first time it gets Oregon plates.

My buddy's $275,000 Country Coach was in the $5,700 range when it was a year old in 1999. It has come down a lot since then, but still well over $1,000. If he had sold it (say to his kids) for say $30,000 used, it would bring it down significantly, and they would no longer need to pay the IRS to inherit it at a later date.

We pay $50 something a year for tags. My grandparent used to live in Arizona and I remember as a kid they licensed their trick and camper in Oregon where we lived.
