There was some construction but not bad. especially with how states other than IL do it. it was a non-issue!
As far as the wife and kids go. not too bad. the kids are 15 and 16. As long as they had there data they were go. We did Glacier NP back in 05 when they were 3 and 4 so road trips aren't an issue.
