Thinking about a new generator

I’ve got a big contractor style generator that I’m thinking about replacing with something smaller and quiet. I only need to use it a couple of times during deer season so I won’t need it to run an AC unit. Just lights, tv and heater blower. I’m thinking of getting one of the 2000 watt champion generators and using a 30 amp to 15 adaptor. Will I mess anything up by using the adaptor? My other option is to add a parallel kit that has the 30 amp rv outlet. Can I run a parallel kit without having it hooked to 2 generators just to get access to a 30 amp plug?

    Honda owner here. The Champion lineup is a great value and hard to beat. The only Honda clone brand that has replacement parts and decent customer support. Good choice.

    ...Crambo.... Thanks for thinking of a QUIET generator; too many Cheap & Loud ones out there... The loud ones take away from the camping in the forest ( desert, boondock, etc ) experience...

    For that small of a load you don't need 2000 watts. Honda makes a cute little 1000.

    No problem at all with using a 20A male to 30A female adapter with a generator; you won't mess anything up. Using a parallel kit with only one generator is not a great idea as it leaves the leads to the other generator hot (though they are typically shielded plugs without immediately exposed prongs).

    Depends on your converter. I had a Honda EU1000i prior to the Champion 2000, it would not power my PD9160 when my batteries were low.

    If you have a Costco close by you may want to check on a Yamaha 2000. They were on sale for $450 with a parallel kit.
    Not knocking the Champion, just mentioning an option.

    It's not a Yamaha generator. It's a A-IPower with a Yamaha engine.
