While camping this weekend at Shenango Lake (a COE campground) I witnessed two...yes two rangers working to put a new roll of bags in the dog clean up dispenser! I have been visiting this facility my entire life and every season is the same thing..."we have to close on labor day because of not enough money, we have to cut the grass less frequently because of not enough money, we can't mainitain the facilities because of not enough money etc. Yet we're paying two rangers to refill a bag dispenser when a camp host is right across the street and could do this as part of their volunteer duties. If I ran my offices like this at work the company would be bakrupt and I'd be out of a job. They should let business people run all of these places. It was just so frustrating!
IMHO, IMJO, IMHO This post is really an unfair unfounded attack on these rangers.
There are SO many variables that you know nothing about. The CG host could have been busy and an irate camper complained about the dispenser being empty and the Rangers simply picked up the replacement bags and walked together talking over to the dispenser to fill it for the host.
Come on, what did it take 2 seconds to open and drop in a replacement container??? And you think your tax dollars were stolen from you for that 2 second action?
Trust me, I highly doubt you will find one of their job descriptions listed in their contract to be filling a doggie poo station. They did it because they were there and it needed to be done and they offered to help. Should they have crossed their arms and stood there saying, "that's not in my job description", and left it empty? :?
