Please don’t criticize the hosts until YOU have done the job. You have no real knowledge of what a host does, as many functions are unseen. We are required to put in 24 hours per week for our COE site, but often put in 30 or more, because we love it.
At 24 hours per week, for a site equals about $7.50 per hour, so we certainly are not doing this for the money!! We are now doing many jobs that the rangers did before to cut costs and for the love of this particular park. If you want to improve things, jump in and help!
I do agree with you about 3 guys watching one guy work, but that is common in all levels of government from the local level on up. We call this a “government job.”
