He lost all judgement almost immediately. Get out, take a lap, and think! Getting out the way you came in is frequently the safe choice.
I was directed down a one mile (very) narrow alley last year in my crew cab long bed with a landscape trailer, and found the end of the alley had too sharp a turn to get out. After one failed attempt to back into perpendicular driveway / alley I backed out the full mile.
