Not surprising in the least. Ever read about the turnover at the big trucking outfits? I read where one was bragging in an annual report that they had gotten annual turnover down to less than 80%. The number of clueless, newbee truck drivers out on the road is staggering. Last winter I watched a driver from one of the giant companies, as he managed to successful bring both a flying J AND the adjoining highway to a stop. He pulled off the highway, entered the diesel islands BACKWARDS, ignoring multiple do not enter signs. He then tried a skill that he failed to acquire yet. Yep, he tried to back out of the mess. Result? Truck jacked to the point of body damage, traffic in every direction at a full halt. Just the other day I pull into a PA. turnpike service plaza, in my Honda CRV. Some mindless dolt follows me to the car parking lot with his big rig. He drove past multiple HUGE signs directing him to truck parking. Once in the car lot he just needed to stay calm, and note the giant exit into the truck lot. He panics, does a U-turn and destroys the landscaping and lawn as he bolts. It wouldn't surprise me at all if at least a quarter of these clowns are unfit for the job. Heck they can barely handle driving forward and following simple signage, much less back anything up.
