I don’t see why you wouldn’t use it at home too...???
Mine is hardwired, so it’s always used, but power surges, voltage drops, lightning strikes...those things happen anywhere. If you have it, use it. It’s not as if the process of connecting it is somehow prohibitively difficult. You plug your TV, computer, and other electronics into surge protectors at home, so why not the RV too.
