Best results from using permethrin to treat clothing and then using either DEET or picaridin on your exposed skin.
Cheap to buy the permethrin in a 13% or 36% solution, dilute with water and either dunk clothes or apply with a garden pump sprayer. Costs us about 5 cents per item of clothing treated and it lasts for 6 or more washings (depends on the concentration and we use a very dilute one of 1 oz per 9 cups of water.
