- bpoundsNomadIf I am estimating the drive time for a 500 mile trip, figuring 50 miles per hour has proven time after time to be a very close estimate. Seems like the majority here use a similar number.
If I am telling my wife how long to the next bathroom break, 15 miles is 15 minutes. And we will be there quicker, and I will be a hero.
- dodge_guyExplorer IIFigure 50mph average.
- 4x4ordExplorer IIII figure 97 minutes.

- PadlinExplorerI figure 50 mph average in the east. On highways in the midwest and west, more like 60+. So 100 miles would be 2 hrs or 1:40ish, depending on where, and how far.
- valhalla360Navigator50mph is a pretty good planning number for freeways and even 2lane/2way rural roads.
If you get into city driving (off freeway) or back county roads, that's a different ballgame. Likewise major construction can throw things out of wack.
- johnhicksExplorerSince we travel in furlongs per fortnight, 100 miles takes us at least three and usually four hours.
