The bottom line is that every jurisdiction is going to get the money out of your hide one way or another.
I pay $500 for a car the size of a shoebox BUT I do NOT have income tax. For the most part taxes for me are consumption based, hence $9gal gas.
If I consume, especially the luxuries, I pay more tax. My choice. No paperwork to fill out every April for me.
