Time to restring day/night window shades

We are unable to find our old diagram drawings showing exactly how to restring our day/night rv blinds. Seems I once ordered a kit - from (I can not recall where) which also came with a plan drawing explaining where to string the cords and where they cris-cross, etc. Please let me know if you can help me track down that address. When my first one broke on a trip in 2006 I just retied the broken string and all is still well. When my second one broke several years later I realized that there is a grommet that’s the string slides through that sometimes shifts out of place and causes the string to fray. I restrung that one after I fixed the grommet using waxed nylon cord and it slides up and down much easier. I just used the one on the left side as reference.
  • Yes, they cross over. Left ones go down and exit right...
The tension on the string keeps it from moving. You tie it at the bottom of the window frame to that post and that tension is key to it all working of course

Mini blinds are terrible for a camper. Worst thing I ever did was install mini blinds. I had to sell the camper it was so bad...
  • On mine, there are four strings. The two leftmost ones form a loop, going down from the top, across to the right side within the bottom slider bit, and from the right edge of the slider down and looped around the righthand button thingy on the wall at the very bottom. The ones that start on the right at the top of course are routed similarly, but mirrored left to right, so the cords all cross in the middle of the bottom slider. That, of course, is what keeps the slider more or less horizontal all the time.
  • or better yet replace them with cleanable mini blinds.
