Tire pressure gauges

Ok guys I was kidding about trusting the TPMS! I use a digital gauge that I bought on line. Much easier to read and I don’t have to guess how many hashes are between the numbers on a sliding gauge. However some digital ones are off. But if you’re within a couple psi I consider it correct. And how does one know which gauge is the correct one. Sure you can take it to a tire shop and use their gauge, but how do we know that one is accurate!

As far as TPMS systems......some are off by 5 psi! Both factory and aftermarket, so we can’t really trust them either!

That would be difficult with the non flow thru sensors, but I imagine if one has the flow thru sensors it would be quite easy, and no need for a gauge.

If I had the flow thru sensors ,I would just have my monitor right there by me ,and read it . You probably came up with a pretty good idea there, why even mess with a gauge if inflating or deflating tires , but I would have to guess some do that anyway. Not being familiar with having the flow thru sensors , not sure if you can check with a gauge or not, I would think you could, but instead just have the monitor in hand to read the pressures.

TPMS for my fifth wheel, all I do now is turn on the monitor ,see if the tires are still inflated properly ,same with the truck, and ready to go if so. No need for a tire gauge at that point . Not having the flow thru sensors, I have to remove them to adjust the air pressure ,and use a tire gauge .

Very similar to the one I have, no idea where I got it , I've had it so long. As far as I know its pretty accurate.

Instead of buying a gauge from WalMart, get it from a commercial tire supply dealer. I have had an earlier version of this one for 15+years. I still trust it over the newer digital models.

I switched to THIS STYLE years ago when I got tired of swapping between the inflator and the gauge when I'm checking/filling tires. Between the twelve tires on the truck and trailer and the ten tires on the family's motorcycles, that's a lot of swapping. I really love that inflator.

None of the places around here have any gauge different then the cheap ones I have either. Although, the did quit using those ones on the air hose.

Well,,, not really, they get it close with them and then grab the cheap stick gauge out of their pocket for a final test.

Costco near us has one and will check customer's.
