Tire Speed Rating Question
I'm posting this here because the speed rating of a tire seems to me to cross all lines/types of vehicles. Reading up on warranty issues/questions just now, I came across the following language ...

First... What is the speed rating of the tire? Most tires are rated for.. Well.. Faster than you should be driving an RV (Let's just leave it at that) Special high speed tires are rated for speeds in the 150-200 MPH range.. I'd hate to think of the tires on "The Spirit of America" (This sled does Mach 1 Plus).
As I recall the tires used on MOST Michigan State Police cars which appeard to be "off the shelf" tires were speed rated 120 MPH.. Some of the patrol cars get (And need) the 150 MPH ones. (And even if you outrun it, there is the Motorola to think about).
I have seen SMALL trailer tires rated for like45 or 55 but never a car or truck tire that slow.
