This OP trailer came OEM with LT235/85R16 on 6K axles. Some one would have to be living under a rock for the last 15 years to want to go from more reliable LT tires to ST tires on a trailer that had OEM LT tires.

Chris - good info, but read between the lines of her post!
The standard "OEM" 5th Wheel tire is an ST - 235/80 R16.
Her trailer *may* have been factory equipped with LT tires, but it's very doubtful.
However - IMO she has switched the numbers due to her numerous visits to tire stores.
A clue to that:
The number of failures - and the worry about clearance, which is SOP when going form the 235/80 to 235/85.
Clearance wouldn't be a problem if she already has 235/85.
No way to tell who is under the rock - unless she goes and re-checks which tires she has.
