While I don't have any data, I believe part of the problem is that in an RV you have no real feedback when a tire goes low, then it overheats and boom!! In a car or TV you'll get feedback with a low or flat tire darn quick. On a double axle TT a tire can be flat and you won't know it till it overheats and explodes.
So that small nail and slow leak turns into a blowout.
Couple this with the limited testing that TT must pass to be sold vs. passenger car tires and it's a recipe for problems.
That's why I have a TPMS for my trailer. Figure I'll catch a slow leak or overheated tire in time to avoid a blowout under most conditions.
