Tires...why do rv tires blow apart so bad?

Just wondering...why do motorhome, trailer, 5th wheel tires blow apart so bad that they cause damage to the rv?? I've had many flats on my cars and vans over the last 43 years but never had one come apart...just pop a small hole in sidewall is the worst that ever happened. Higher pressure in rv tires the cause maybe?

Blown many truck tires that were made in the good olde USofA. Doesn't matter where their made, when 100 pounds of compressed air per square inch finds a weak spot it will tear things apart and do lots of damage. Goodyear paid for the repairs on lots of the tractor trailer full tandem, double and single radius fenders for the company I retired from when the tires they sold us blew out.
  • Car tires are generally inflated in the 28-35 psi range. My TT's tires are in the 45-50 psi range, and some larger RV tires are in the 100 lb range or even more. A high pressure tire that pops is thus going to carry a LOT more energy into that pop.

  • I'm no expert but, I would think it's from the weight they are carrying and heat generated by the tires.
Large truck tires blow apart. I've never had a car or small truck tire explode like large truck tires.
Hopefully someone will have a beter explaination.
