That's one school of thought that I don't subscribe to. One thing to consider is with a puncture or slow leak, the tire will get so hot as it gets lower in air pressure that the tire literally "melts", the tread separates, and/or the sidewall blows out. You'll never know if it was just a slow leak or a bad tire. As to better tires equaling "no tire failures of any kind", that's nonsense.
