we purchased a new hyundai elantra to tow. 4cyl 150hp direct injection 6 speed manual. Weighs about 2700 lb and tows very well. We are on the last legs of about a 4000 mile trip and have had no issues well 1, a charge line was not established when the tow kit was installed. 1 dead battery at 1st stop. About 2hrs of going to get wire, fuse etc we were all set, no issues since.
Got the tow bar setup from Camp world around $700 installed with the wiring for use of the cars taillights. Baseplate was about $100 more than I found on net but then would need to install or hire it out. CW install was $29!
I have seen some of the smaller fords being pulled only KIA and no Hyundai's The fords I think are rebadged kias. We have driven it to aBOUT 10000 feet elevation and it performed well. Currently in Pagosa Springs col with no drivability issues. It does have nice carry capacity has all bells whistles except power seats and backup stuff. There is a model of elantra higher and I think it has all the toys. Best thing cost less than $16000, cheap to insure.
