monkey44, almost any Subaru with a MANUAL tranny can be towed 4 down. We currently tow a 2013 Subi Crosstrek, and it pulls real easy. No mods to make, just hook it up, e-brake off, tranny in neutral, and ignition to first click to unlock steering. No limit as to speed or distance. We did look at the Forrester, but wife has a 2010 Outback, and we just wanted a smaller Subi . It's also my daily driver, and my third Subi. Wife is on her third Outback. Over 300,000 miles on 6 Subi's in 18 years with only one warranty problem.
