Deciding on a TOAD ... Anyone have experience with either the Rogue or the CR-V -- we're looking at NEW not pre-worn ... :) We'll more than likely go with FWD, not AWD or 4x4, and these two fit...

As a couple of other posters have said: MANUAL transmission only!
My wife and I have a 2012 Forester with a manual, and it tows beautifully. We don't even know it's back there. We're using Roadmaster tow components.
The Forester is a great car for the price. But it will only work for you if you can drive a stick. And since I believe you mentioned knee problems, that could be an issue with you.
