OK, so enlighten me. How do you know exactly what happened? Did the owner tell you or are you just guessing?
What I don't understand is why so many of you thrive on being so condescending when others may err. It must be hard to be perfect. Instead of just assuming and making snarky comments, why don't you find out the facts and post a "this is what may happen if you do/don't do this"? These should be used as teaching moments, not the holier-than-thou "I'm smarter than you" attitudes that are a complete turn-off.

Yep, applies to many, many posts.
I always have a checklist. But once I forgot the hitch pin. Does anybody have the hitch pin in the checklist? :) - chracatoaExplorer

Is there a link missing for the posted picture ? I'm not sure how the link to a 22 year old story relates to the picture ? :h
It doesn't, it is just a similar story with worse consequences. - FlatBrokeExplorer II

Well actually NO. And for this simple reason: this would have resulted in the TV presumably a MH, reacting to the added drag. You need to drive with your senses as much as with your brain. I guarantee that there were physical clues that could have been picked up on in the steering and engine/ performance if one had been paying attention. You HAVE to drive with your Butt as well as your head. If anything seems to change suddenly or even gradually you need to pull over and look.
As for checklists; they are only as good as those that actually USE them carefully. The best checklist is in your head developed through habit and experience.
It is my opinion that something like this is most often the result of someone who is not "completely conversant" with the subtle nuances of his vehicle and blithely drives down the road ignoring signs that would have made most of us stop and get out and see what the heck was wrong. (before we ever got out of the RV Park)
However I agree that pointing these things out can be done with a bit less condescension. But the fact is people often dont want to hear the truth. They simply want an echo chamber to validate their cherished notions and egos and relieve them from the responsibility that they should accept. - OkSixpackExplorer

Age brings on knowledge and experience. The stupid mistakes are usually made by those that just will never pay attention to the almighty details.

I've seen some crazy stuff since getting into this hobby. Maybe I'll do crazy things when I'm old too.
Hopefully I got mine out of my system when I was young! I use a list but my internal list works a whole lot better than when I was in my 20's.
