Toilet tissue ratings

I cannot seem to find the thread about tissue rankings for RV's. I know someone did extentsive testing on here, but I apparently forgot how to search. Can't come up with anything. Anybody know where it is ?????
  • Non-skid, puncture proof and reversible. That's all I care about. It's a holding tank, not a septic tank. Anything will work as long as it goes through the pipe...

    B.O.
  • Here is some info on dissolving times of some brands. Unless you dump very soon after using the toilet it looks like any brand will be okay since the worst ones dissolve in less than a couple of minutes.
For 11 full timing years we used whatever TP my wife liked and had no problems.

    Brand...........................................Dissolving Time in Seconds
    (lowest is best)
    Charmin Plus 1-Ply..................................9
    MD 2-Ply...................................................9
    Coronet 2-Ply..........................................12
    Angel Soft 2-Ply......................................12
    Scott 1-Ply..............................................17
    Soft 'N Gentle 1-Ply ...............................18
    Soft Weve 1-Ply.....................................20
    Marcal 1-Ply...........................................20
    Soft 'N Gentle 2-Ply...............................21
    Seventh Generation 2-Ply.....................21
    Quilted Northern Super 2-Ply ...............69
    Charmin Ultra 2-Ply ..............................77
    Cottonelle 1-Ply ....................................96
    Charmin 1-Ply .....................................180

The TPs with an Excellent disintegration rating from a Aug 2000 Consumer Report article are:

    Albertson's Soft Choice Ultra
    Safeway Select Softly Ultra
    Quilted Northern Ultra Soft
    Quilted Nothern Soft Prints
    Target
    Kroger
    Angel Soft
Charmin Plus with Unscented Natural Aloe
    SoftWeve
  • Everyone should know,by now, that the only TP to use in the RV is the high $$$ kind that is made for RV use.It says so right on the package.
As I have posted before..RV means Really Valuable, that's the reason for the higher price.
Any other kind will ruin the entire drain and tank system, causing tons of grief and ruining your vacation!
($10 bills will also work and possibly cheaper.)
  • If you have issues with TP will depend on your rig and how it's plumbed. Not all rigs have a "Whoosh" setup. I have a 5'ver with a very flat black tank that also has several turns in that 3 inch pipe prior to the exit. The velocity of the drain is no where near what it should be. Yes, it will jam with TP if you use the wrong type or too much TP.

Always used Angel Soft with no issues till they came out with a stronger version. That 5'ver then started to plug up halfway during the draining process. Switched to White Cloud three ply based on Consumer Reports from a year or two ago. No more problems.

We live in our rig for about 6 months each year.
