Colorado has a unique system - you can buy a transponder if you are a regular user and pay a lower toll rate, or you can simply drive thru the toll "plaza" per se. I say the "per se" as none of the tolls are manned by people or even booths at all. The state has the photo toll system where they mail a bill to the address on file linked to the license plate. Thankfully we don't have many toll roads in the state, and they are all in the Denver metro area. Using the photo toll incurs a slightly higher toll rate, and there is also a system in place for rental car photo tolls as well (just make sure you have purchased the photo toll option from the rental company or you will be paying DEARLY).
