My grandparents are in their late 60s/early 70s and RV constantly. They say it keeps them young. We meet up with them two to three times a year to camp together. It is an awesome way to spend time with each other. We are in Florida, as well.
I would say go for it. My family has been camping for over 7 years now and we can't imagine not doing so.
