In the interest of offering suggestions that could actually help the OP he might want to alternately consider a Slide Out Sweep. I've never personally owned or tried one but it seems like a possible solution to having to climb up on a ladder in order to sweep the slide top clear of debris and certainly is less costly than a topper.
I have , and will always have slide toppers, the advantage out weights the disadvantages, whatever his opinion is , has no merit without an explanation.
The only problem like all things they do wear out over time, and some will flap in the wind, but the flapping can be prevented, with a device. Kind of defeats the purpose of having them to get up there to put in the deflappers. I don't need them with my toppers, but some have complained they flap in the wind, one of mine makes a little noise in a strong wind, but it does not bother me.
